A poet lingers with his thoughts and new ideas
like teenagers and their cigarettes
loitering by the
corner liquor store
they whisper and then scream with laughter like there is no
thrill of tomorrow
relishing the adventure upon their lips
true meaning is now
moments leaping into open arms
where the deep kiss of a metaphor
is all that matters
so I explore ideas
like a lover looking for love
yet it is slippery like soap
grasping for words that could wipe away tears
or give them if the light is bright enough
but I have found
they venture closer when I am not looking
like quiet cats creeping
suddenly they are all around me
and I must decide which one to capture first.
