We are all many colors

Each and every one of us

Life paints its way through our journey

And we become many things

Bold as orange polyester skirts on a windy day

Soft as red lipstick kisses by the truest of lovers

Wide with faith like the bluest of Colorado skies

And sometimes green as pastures we never roamed

And the image of what is before us can fade and brighten with every stroke

An ever-changing canvas of pastels and charcoals

We look out the window like canary yellow

And peer into that same window

Sometimes only seeing coal black

 dark as a midnight sky deep in the city

perceptions develop

 views alter with every angle of the canvas

I look in the mirror and the image before me has become an abstract form of what was

Experience has painted over my grey with canary yellow

Knowledge can be both freedom and bondage

We learn to carry our fear quietly

Aware of the uncertainty on the edge of the horizon

And sooner or later we discovery how to let it go

Yes we are all many colors

Each and every one of us

Life paints its way through our journey

These days I am colored canary yellow.
