The bamboo that bends is stronger than the oak
that resists. ~Japanese proverb
We find our groove in the throes of movement
In the beat and the pulse and the dance
Life is messy in the making
Progress always has a price
Dirty hands and broken bones
All the things that make us fall and get back up
A beautiful vessel built by grace and strength
moving us forward
For curves are always around the corner
ones that throw us off the path
so we need our strength to
find our way back
for life is a journey full of maneuvering
and too much stillness makes for stiff knees anyway.
"throes of movement" - great play! And this too "For curves are always around the corner", terrific. Picks up all the movement and layers of the rest of the poem and image. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you Qbit! I consider that a great compliment coming from a brilliant poet like you!
DeleteThis fits life perfectly for us seniors. I like
ReplyDelete"Dirty hands and broken bones" being recoverable. I'm not sure of the literal 'dirty hand' but the quilocular ones can hold us down immensely. The fall? The last fall I had I needed Mrs. Jim to help me up as I can no longer be on my knees. Both kneecaps have been broken and did not grow back together. (From that fall seven weeks ago I am still recovering my broken right big toe from.)

We see hosting is not always easy, thanks for this hectic time with Mr. Linky. )

Thank you so much for your understanding and encouragement Jim! I hope your toe is getting better and that you go easy on your knees. Hoping for a quick recovery from your hurts all around.
