The Sheltering & What the Trees Know

And that is how she would be remembered

She stood a monument among her kind

Broken in pieces and built back up

Her soul scarred by saw and blade

But she would live on

Giving to others as she always had

Once breath and now shelter.

    I love that opening lune, Carrie. It sets the cadence and the reflective mood up that carries the entire piece. Trees are giving things, bound to the earth and to each other, and yet willing to allow us their breath, their shelter, and their wisdom. A beautiful, contemplative 55, and I'm so glad you shared it with us.

      Such a beautiful ode to a tree. My eyes are tearful as I comb through memories of the trees that surrounded our home where I grew up. Each one its own gift and personality.

      I love the mindset you present here, Carrie. So many of us don't show enough appreciation of the natural world. And I must add, it reminds me a little bit of "The Giving Tree" from my childhood.
