I actually am just sharing a poem I posted in the beginning days of the Muse and it didn't have a lot of exposure so I thought I would share it again. I have changed the image but the rest is the same. (The image was an old eerie house.)
Thank you Sherry, Mary, Susan and Sumana for all you do!
Sending everyone a big hug right now! <3
Love, thieves, and fear, make ghosts. ~German Proverb
I have every room memorized but you do not remember me at
all
I kissed you once and I kissed you twice more
but before the next you were long gone out the door
you see time stops for only a few things in this world
childbirth/seeing a ghost/ and kissing a girl
I held you close in your red sequin gown
and paraded you on my arm all over town
but what made me fall was that first kiss
and now I am a ghost that you do not know exists.
I enjoyed this poem, Carrie, even moreso since you mentioned it was one of the poems from the early days of "The Muse." These are my favorite lines:
ReplyDelete"you see time stops for only a few things in this world
childbirth/seeing a ghost/ and kissing a girl" I also liked how you rhymed. I don't know about you, but I enjoy looking back at my old poems sometimes and really have a fresh appreciation for them!! Thanks for sharing. And why don't you start up "The Muse" again? Smiles!
I miss The Muse. Smiles. A really beautiful poem, Carrie. Thanks for sharing it at What's Going On.
ReplyDeleteyou see time stops for only a few things in this world / childbirth/seeing a ghost/ and kissing a girl - love this!
ReplyDeleteThere is a song "The Kiss That Counted" that this sort of reminded me of, just because it describes how strong a kiss can be.
ReplyDeleteI love the caterpillar looking in the mirror at a butterfly on your sidebar.
"what made me fall was that first kiss" Love the haunted house and the kiss and what this says about memory and the senses--and in rhyme! It is so true, and my lips remember the closeness and touch. Thanks for sharing this poem.
ReplyDeleteA haunting poem, Carrie, and haunted by kisses and memories of red sequin gowns, memories that live on. So beautifully constructed in its rolling rhymes and rhythms.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful poem Carrie. Love how you've captured those time stopping moments. The nostalgic tone is deeply touching.
