Linking with dVerse for Claudia's prompt "The things we see".
There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again. ~Elizabeth Lawrence
It's a big world in the eyes of a child where wonder lives up to its name.
Everything is a view from a mountain top
no two places are ever the same.
A raindrop is like a giggle and a slip an utter laugh
a hug is a vertical wrestle
and a kiss is an ocean splash.
Its a big world in the eyes of a child where wonder lives up to its name.
but as we grow up it shrinks like a tall lit candle
for like ears and noses complacency grows bigger with age.

Beautiful word craft Carrie! Just how growing up can fulfill the childhood curiosity into something real!

if only we could see through the eyes of the child...before the eyes get jaded and we build up the callouses on our lenses of expectation and mistrust...
ReplyDeletei try to keep a bit of this childhood spell... and i wish everyone did... there's so much magic in those imagined worlds...

ReplyDeletesuch a beautiful poem...and so true..!!
ReplyDeleteWell said. It makes me think that maybe we shouldn't let the sense of wonder go just because we're getting older. Maybe one of life's goals should to keep the child-like amazement for the world around us.
